Creature
Type: Humanoid
The loud cracking of logs and twigs, a dark shape as tall as the trees, and the musk of moss and old wood heralds the arrival of a Forest Giant — among the deadliest foes an adventurer can encounter.
THE SHEPHERD OF THE WOODS
Forest Giants inhabit the Wilderlands but also southern Gallia. They have green beards and brown-and-gray skin, blending easily into the woods. When roused to anger, they swing clubs fashioned from downed trees or hurl stones picked from the forest floor.
Forest Giants have a deep love for plants and vegetation; thus they hate woodcutters and will kill them on sight. Even the use of wooden tools can provoke them to a murderous rage.
In winter, they sleep in burrowed-out dens, not emerging until spring. They mate in various places during the summer. The sounds of these “giant moots” can be heard for miles.
In the Wilderlands, the Moon Circle cultists revere Forest Giants above all creatures.
TRAITS
Though some call Forest Giants “the wise men of the woods,” they are actually quite stupid, acting on pure emotion. Some can speak a few words, but language is largely beyond them.
Birds and other animals have been known to nest in Forest Giants’ beards and green hair. They have poor eyesight but an exceptional sense of smell.
