The fey are creatures who inhabit Avenda, also known as the Otherworld or the Enchanting. They vary greatly in disposition, from the murderous tommyknockers to the hedonistic satyrs to the playful sprites. The fey encounter mortals wherever the line separating Varda and Avenda is thin, such as Themuria and the Eldenwood.
In the fey world there are kingdoms and nations, never glimpsed by human eyes. Mortals rarely encounter fey, but legends state those who fall asleep in mushroom rings or get lost in the woods in midsummer may be transported there.
The fey fear and hate iron, the only material which can harm them. They will flee from its sight and hate its bearer. Those who honor and befriend the fey, such as Zarubain’s fairy priestesses, may hope to gain a small bit of their power.
Fey do not grow old or die. Unless wounded by iron, life will return to a “slain” fey within days. Many varieties lust and mate with each other, but very few reproduce. Their numbers are considered finite, never growing and never shrinking.
