City
Nation: The Empire
Province: Gad
Floridium, formed as a Thenoan colony, is located so far from the mother city it once called itself the Lost Colony. Isolated in the far north of Gad, the hot summers and mild winters of Eloesus became a distant dream.
TRADE
In addition to fishing and ship building, Floridic colonists learned from the natives to grow cherries, apples and wheat in the cold environment. They became expert navigators in the rough waters of the ocean and set up trade routes with Zarubad, the Elven World and later, the Empire.
SIGHTS
- The Temple of Lorenos, Lord of the Sea: A large temple, built in Eloesian style, from stone quarries far away.
- The Theater of Felix: A large theater where plays were performed weekly.
- The Grand Floridium Arena: A gladiator arena, built against the wishes of the locals. It was vandalized often before becoming an accepted part of life.
- The Lookout: A tower watching for enemies.
HISTORY
In the dawn of recorded history, Eloesus had become crowded and overpopulated, forcing many to set out in search of farmland and resources. A Thenoan named Floros left with his family and a few hundred others to seek his fortunes.
After the Imperial conquest, thousands of Imperials settled in the area. Like so many colonies, their Eloesian identity gradually disappeared. Floridion became Floridium and Imperial baths, a theater and a gladiator arena were built.
It never became a metropolis, reaching a peak of ten thousand people before it was completely annihilated by the wizards. It never recovered.
