An Elven myth…
On the isle of Andériom (Elvish: “Western Island”), there lived a race of super-men, the Andvaren. 140 years before the outbreak of the first War of Shadow, they arrived on dragon-prowed ships, sailing through an ocean fog.
They had strength far beyond both elves and humans, and intelligence surpassing all but the oldest of the elves. They lived in an isle to the west of Umdar, took Elvish names and adopted Elvish customs. In the Shadow War, they battled the forces of the enemy and held them back, driving them from the Elf Lands. So great was their strength that their king, Estirias (Elvish, Star Sword), was wounded by the dark-iron blade of General Felmoor, and survived.
