The Svarthal or Fire Dwarves are a dwarvish people indigenous to the Southern World. Their inventions and machines were without compare, and some—thousands of years later—still remain in use. They once ruled a desert empire almost as large as Fharas.
Swarthy, with hair that ranges from auburn to bright orange, they are related to the fair-skinned Iron Dwarves and the beardless norgs of Kalamar. Their inventions are mostly lost but included animated constructs and deadly weapons of war.
A small population of Svarthal survive. They are a rare sight in the Southern World but still extant. The Svarthal of Taifun have formed a Tinkerers Guild and a Machinists Guild. Wise Svarthal have been known to advise the Fharese King of Kings.
